MINUTES OF ALLANTE’ ATLANTA CAR CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING AUGUST 19, 2006
Twelve members of the Allante’ Atlanta Car Club met for breakfast at the Piccadilly in Marietta on Saturday, August 19, 2006.
After another delicious breakfast, the Annual meeting was called to order by President, Norman Penfield.
Those present were: Norman and Linda Penfield, Paula and Russell Vopelak, Wheaton and Judy Cave, Bill and Carolyn Fallis, Michael Fain, Doug Jackson and Bernice and Harvard Kniffen.
Doug Jackson made a motion that the present officers be re-elected. A second was made and the motion passed.
The suggestion was made that the date of the Annual meeting be changed to December when By-Laws are drawn up for Incorporation. Paula and Steve Williams suggest the Club be incorporated as a non-profit organization which would make government filings simple and would only require filing with the Secretary of State and paying a small fee.
Wheaton made a motion that the Club be incorporated and the Annual meeting moved to December when we might expect more members to attend.
The motion was seconded and carried.
A suggestion was made to change the By-Laws to allow for Associate members who would not be required to own an Allante, but would be interested in buying one or just one who admires the Classic Allante’. This will be decided when the By-Laws are created and discussed.
Norman Penfield suggested a proper memorial for our founder, Ken Kogge might be to award a trophy for the best original Allante’ at National meets annually. The CLC Nationals are to be held in Savannah in August 2007, and it was suggested we invite Gloria Kogge to present the trophy.
Wheaton Cave made a motion we accept this as the best use of the memorial fund. Mike Fain seconded the motion and it carried. It was suggest the fund totaling $1200 could be invested in a CD so that the interest would pay for the trophy and perpetuate the Memorial. This would be done after incorporation.
Our Web site has been very successful in attracting new members and had 35 visits last week, 180 for the month. We appreciate all the work our webmaster, Brent Tresslar does on our behalf.
Members were asked to supply pictures of their Allante’s for next year’s Calendar. A flyer was mailed to all members last week.
Wheaton Cave has agreed to continue as Newsletter Editor for the coming year and asked that everyone share tech ideas for the Newsletter.
Paula announced preparations for the September Tech session with Dick Hussey to be held at Classic Cadillac. There will be a charge of $15 per car and she asks that all members submit topics for Dick to discuss and request parts if any are needed. Invitations will be mailed to the 14 contacts Bernice supplied from the website. One of these, Budd Neidig is our newest member. He has a rare grey metallic 1989 Allante’ and lives in Bean Station, Tennessee. We now have 38 active members.
Ken Gresham was suggested to be our new member spokesperson.
Norman suggested we use our treasury funds to replenish our supply of Club shirts, hats and visors. It was agreed the colors would be white, black or red.
Paula presented our President, Norman and his wife Linda with gifts to show our appreciation for all their hard work for our Club the past year. She presented Norman with a large Cadillac belt buckle and Linda received a beautiful tray in her favorite kitchen colors.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Several members proceeded to the Carter Center and luncheon at the Varsity in Atlanta.
