CLC NATIONAL MEET SAVANNAH GEORGIA AUGUST 1-4
The Allante‘ Atlanta club was well represented at the show with 9 beautiful cars. The CLC and Peach State chapter welcomed us with a bag of mementos and snacks including fresh Georgia Peaches. The first event was a welcome reception with a live band providing entertainment. Thursday evening, many of us went on the Riverboat Dinner Cruise while others did a dine around at the various excellent restaurants. Friday was a very rainy day but spirits were not dampened and the cars were parked in a covered garage area at the Marriott so the polishing and showing off the cars continued. On Friday evening, many of the group went to Tybee Island for a low country boil while others stayed and enjoyed local sites along River Street and other areas.
Saturday morning’s weather caused the Judges to decide not to move the cars outside but rather have them drive their cars in numerical order for judging inside the covered garage. While it was not the best of venues, it turned out fine. Saturday evening was the awards dinner and it was a treat. We had a surprise performance by a local choir which got the hands clapping and the toes tapping. The dinner was a delicious buffet. After dinner the awards were presented including our Ken Kogge’ memorial award presented to Bob Klopfer by our President Norman Penfield. Bob has a flax yellow pristine 1993 Allante’ which is spotless even underneath the car!!
Our Allante’ Atlanta club did very well. The Armstrongs were awarded a third place, the Penfields got a second place award and the Vopelaks who brought two cars got a first place for each of them. It was a fun time eating, site seeing and car watching with our great group! We agreed that we have an exceptional group of people in our club and we always enjoy each other’s company rain or shine.
