Allante Vineyard Cruise

ALLANTE’ ATLANTA GEORGIA MOUNTAIN VINEYARD WINE CRUISE

Seven Allante’ couples met for breakfast at the Piccadilly in Marietta. After breakfast and fun socializing, four Allante’s rolled out of the Piccadilly parking lot around 10:15 am heading to Dahlonega for our rally point around 11:45 am in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  There we would join three other Allante’ members (Matt & Barbara Major from Cleveland, GA and their guests, the McFarland’s); Dave and Susan Ball from Turtletown, TN and Darlene & Coleman Armstrong from Chattanooga, TN.  Matt and Barbara Major own two Allante’s so they shared one with their guests to enjoy the cruise. We had a total of eight Allantes navigating the easy mountain cruise.

After a short getting acquainted and oohing and aahing over the beautiful Allante’s in Dahlonega, we headed up the mountain to the Georgia vineyards.  We shared the road with a few bike riders (not Harleys—the two-leg powered ones) as they were enjoying the mountain ride too. We were entertained with some warm top-down temperatures in our Allante’s and some beautiful pastoral scenery as we arrived about 20 minutes later at our first stop, Blackstock Vineyard. There we were greeted by the Owner of the vineyard for an entertaining and informative briefing on their history and their wines.  We enjoyed and purchased some top shelf Merlots and Cabs. (This vineyard is definitely worth a return visit!)

After Blackstock, we headed to Frogtown Cellars for an enjoyable wine tasting there.  An excellent vineyard and a very nice experience with their 13 wine offerings—some of us opted for only one or two tastings as hunger pangs were stirring. (Another return visit to consider.)

After Frogtown we headed back to Dahlonega and luncheon at the Corkscrew Café. We arrived around 2 pm and had to search for parking due to a Mountain Flower Festival being held on the square in Dahlonega. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches and salads and always good Allante’ company outside and downstairs under a cool covered patio. The owner and staff of the Corkscrew were very friendly and took good care of hungry Allante’ members. After pictures, and more socializing, we departed around 4 pm in different directions for home, or festival browsing, or stops at the Outlet Mall.  We all had a great time, enjoying fellowship and good wine and food. It was a real treat to look behind us and see seven more gorgeous Allante’s heading up the mountain and around the curves. A nice day for Allante’ Atlanta Car Club.
