ALLANTE’ CHRISTMAS CRUISE
DECEMBER 2-4, 2011
CHARLESTON- the history, the scenery, the Market, the FOOD, what a great destination cruise for Christmas! Our thanks to John and Beth Nash for suggesting and making arrangements for this trip. The market and all of the most popular sightseeing spots were within walking distance of the Doubletree hotel. Our group of 10 members met Friday afternoon in the hotel for cocktails and catching up with each other before heading to Hank’s for dinner. The seafood at Hank’s lives up to its reputation as one of Charleston’s best.
Saturday morning we enjoyed breakfast in the hotel before scouting out the shops and the Market. Some of us walked to the Battery Park admiring all of the architecture and courtyards on the way. We all met for lunch at the Fleet Landing restaurant with a waterfront view. We were lucky enough to be there on the day of the Reindeer Run for charity. The runners and their dogs in costume were a delight.
After lunch, part of the group took the boat ride to Ft.Sumter site of the first battle of the Civil War while the rest took a carriage ride through the historic district. At dusk some of us ventured out to Marion Square to see the lighting of Charleston’s Christmas tree and a Parade of Lighted Boats.
Dinner was at the Oak Steakhouse and it has fabulous food! We all ate and drank to over FULL! It was a great evening with lots of fun and laughter. Sunday morning, we headed out to our home destinations feeling a lot more in the Christmas Spirit. AHH, the magic of fun and friendship (and beautiful Allantes’) surrounded by beautiful Christmas decorations.
