DOLLYWOOD / CADES COVE
We met at Cracker Barrel in Canton on Friday and took the scenic route 136 and 411 into Sevierville, Tennessee home of Dollywood. We checked into the Governor Crossing Resort and then went to the Outlet Mall for some quick shopping. Before dinner at the Chop House, we enjoyed cocktails and snacks in the Vopelak’s suite.
On Saturday morning, new members Doug and Jean Reed joined us for breakfast at Flapjack’s. After a hearty breakfast, we headed for Dollywood. Bud and Darlene have season’s tickets to Dollywood and thanks to them for showing us how to get into the shows without a wait. We saw EVERY show, plus the parade and musical lighting of trees. After a long full day at Dollywood, we had dinner at Calhoun’s.
Sunday morning, we headed for Cades Cove which is an eleven mile loop of historic cabins, churches, and other historical sites. There were many scenic photo ops for the cars in this area. It was a busy weekend and an opportunity to get to know some of our delightful new members better. Everyone was certainly in the Christmas spirit when we left all those sights and sounds of the season.
