ALLANTE’ CHRISTMAS AT OPRYLAND
DECEMBER 5-7, 2008
We began our Christmas Vacation on December 5th heading for Nashville early in the morning and stopping for lunch at the Smoke Rise in Mont Eagle. The restaurant and the store are very unique. They have a variety of homemade fried pies including coconut and chocolate. The country store was really fun shopping. They had gift sets of an RC cola and a Moon Pie. We had a great time plowing through all the “stuff”.
Next stop, Opryland. It was Christmas Magic with the lights, decorations and sounds of Christmas. Our group stayed in the Cascades and loved the view and the sounds of the waterfalls. Friday night, we went to see the Rockettes and it was wonderful.
Saturday morning, we met for a buffet breakfast. Norman presented the Reeds and the Neidigs with beautiful photographs of their cars with the mountains in the background from our fall trip on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. These lucky members just happened to park in the right place at the right time! After breakfast, there were several different agendas. Some of the guys went to the Lane Motor Museum. Their logo is unique cars from A to Z. The guys all saw cars they had never seen before and were well entertained for most of the day. Some attended the Christmas Treasures and Festival of Trees exhibits. Later in the afternoon, some went to the mall and some went to the ice show and a few stayed at the hotel and took pictures. There is so much to see.
Saturday night, we went to the Stock Yard for dinner in downtown Nashville. We had a private room since we were such a large group or maybe someone warned them about this rowdy bunch! The meal was extravagant. We were in for a surprise treat when Billy Bob came by to sing for us. He entertained us with songs and stories. On the ride back everyone was feeling very festive. In this scenario, we will just say what happens in Nashville stays in Nashville.
On Sunday morning, we had breakfast together before heading home. Everyone had a marvelous time and took home many treasures for their Christmas Memories. It really is a wonderful life when you have friends like those in the Allante Atlanta Club.
See you all next year at the Winter Dinner!
