MOUNTAIN CRUISE
Two couples met for breakfast in Canton and headed to Chattanooga to meet the rest of the crew. We met at the Incline Railway and rode to the top of Lookout Mountain. We walked to Point Park which has spectacular views of Chattanooga and the surrounding mountains. After our ride back down the mountain, we cruised to the Knitting Mills complex and had lunch at the Food Works. We were delighted to see a shop with the actual name RETAIL THERAPY. We browsed in the antique mall for awhile before heading to Pikeville.
We stayed at Fall Creek, a wonderful Tennessee State Park. The facility was beautiful and we each had a lake view room. The lake provided some fabulous reflection shots even though the leaf colors were not at their peak. Our dinner was a seafood buffet and Budd won the crab leg eating contest! It was a very pleasant surprise to have such great food at a state facility.
Saturday morning, we met for breakfast and then headed on a scenic driving tour stopping for lots of photos. Fall Creek Falls are very lovely and unusual as they fall before an open colorful rock quarry. We rode into Sparta for lunch at a little Greek cafĂ© called Yanni’s. The town square was decorated for Fall with lots of pumpkins, hay bales, and creative scarecrows. There was a car show on the square which the guys really enjoyed while the ladies checked out a few more shops.
Then, it was back to the lodge for a big prime rib buffet with lots of good trimmings and delicious desserts Sunday morning, we had breakfast at the Lodge and then headed in our separate ways home Thanks to Paula for finding such a beautiful spot for our Mountain Cruise. See everyone next month for breakfast and business meeting and then to Charleston for our Christmas Celebration Cruise.
