FLORIDA ALLANTE’ TENTH ANNIVERSARY
LOVERS KEY, FL
Six of us travelled to Lovers Key for the Florida Club’s tenth anniversary celebration and car show. On Thursday evening we met in the hospitality suite and were given very nice logo bags with lots of car cleaning products and other goodies.
Later we caravanned to South Beach Grill for an excellent dinner. Friday was a free day to enjoy the various attractions in the area. One of the Florida members treated several of us to a boat ride. Friday evening started with a visit to several hospitality suites and then dinner at Skippers on the waterfront. After dinner, we were treated to a presentation on the history of the Allante’ by Bill Buschman.
Saturday morning was the judging of the 30 plus Allantes and XLR’s. After the judging, a group went for a tour of a “muscle car” museum in Punta Gorda. The dinner and awards presentation was at a local country club. The highlight of the evening for the Atlanta group was the presentation of the Ken Kogge award. We were all delighted that Russell and Paula Vopelak brought home this award.
Norman, Dennis and Paula received dolphin figurines for their participation.
Sunday morning, Dick Hussey held a technical program before everyone left for home. It was a fun filled celebration and we got to see some pristine Allantes and XLRS while spending time with our fellow Allante’lovers in the Florida club.
We are planning another joint celebration in December with a trip to the Biltmore House in Asheville.
