May 2011 Day Trip

ALLANTE’ ATLANTA TRIP TO BARNSLEY GARDENS

MAY 21, 2011

A group of us met for breakfast at the Marietta Diner.  The food selection is extensive and everyone felt their choice was delicious.  We will definitely revisit this spot.

We cruised with tops down to BarnsleyGardens resort in Adairsville,Ga. just north of Atlanta.  It is a unique place with a rich history.  We did the walking tour visiting the Rice House, the Lotus Pond & garden, the Manor House Ruins, the Fountain, the original cabin, the Museum, Fairy Godmother’s Garden, etc.  They were making preparations for a wedding which was fun to spend a few minutes watching how they put all of the decorations together.

After our walking tour, we had lunch at the Woodlands Grille which is a beautiful facility in the golf clubhouse.  It was approaching 90 degrees after lunch, so we all headed home.  It was an interesting and fun day.

See you all next month in Wakulla Springs State Park, Florida.  This will be our first time here and it sounds like an amazing place to explore!
