Allante Breakfast meeting 11-18-06

    We had a good turnout Saturday morning with 14 members for breakfast, driving 8 Allante’s.

  Dr. Larry & Jan Flegle were in attendance and brought a scrapbook that Larry bought on Ebay that covered the ’92 Indy 500 with extensive photos of all the ‘93Allante’s that participated in the event. You probably know about the Allante pace cars that were made for the race, but how about the fifty parade cars all with the pace car stickers. The book is a delight to see, and I hope Dr. Flegle brings it to another meeting for us to enjoy.

   A proof of the ’07 club Calendar was shown for all to see before we gave the disc and paper to Michael Fain to print, as he has volunteered his free service to print it this year saving the club several hundred dollars in print cost. Norman Penfield thanked all those who submitted pictures for the calendar and challenged everyone to keep in mind we will need pictures for 08 calendar next year, so take your camera when out with your Allante’.

  Paula briefed us on the “Christmas at Dollywood” trip Dec. 1st – 3rd. that promises to be another event for the scrapbook. We will be enjoying shopping at the outlets in Pigeon Forge Friday, all the events and lights at Dollywood on Saturday, & a cruise of Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountain National Park Sunday before returning to Atlanta. There are rooms still available at the Resort at Governor's Crossing in Sevierville, TN so make the call and join us.

  Paula also gave us a overview of next years activities, including the Winter Dinner that will be held at Papadeaux’s in Alpharetta . She also has a new first time “club auction” planned for February. Members bring car/Allante’ related items to the meeting where they are auctioned off and 10% goes to the club for a fund raiser. This is the time to start cleaning out the garage and getting those treasures ready for the auction block.

  All members need to make a special effort to attend next month’s December meeting to vote on changes to the by laws before we incorporate. Please mark your calendar Saturday 16th to be present and participate.

  Another item that was discussed is the Cadillac LaSalle Club’s National Meeting is going be held at the Riverfront Marriott in Savannah, August 1-4th . This will be the first time it has ever been held in the Southeast. There should be a magnificent display of every make and model of Cadillac including our Allante’s at this show. Be sure to mark your calendars for this event as well.

  We ended as usual in the parking lot admiring the cars and exchanging tips and ideas to enhance the enjoyment of our Allante’s.
