Breakfast and Cruise to the Atlanta Speedway
We had a great turnout for breakfast (24) before the cruise to the Atlanta Speedway to participate in “Hot Laps on the High Banks” sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
We had eight cars make the three laps plus Jan Flegle took their Allante around three additional laps after her husband Larry drove with the pack, and she was grinning from ear to ear when she finished the last lap. Judy Cave rode in the pace car in a solo run at over 100 mph but they held the group run at about 80 mph. Well some of us did drop back from the pack and gunned it out of the bank to get a little faster, I won’t say by how much. Boys will be boys.
After the laps, we were directed to the winner’s circle where each car was photographed and Russell had to act like a winner, except it is water not Champagne he is tossing in the air.
This was a real treat, our hostess was wonderful and could not have done any more to please us except letting us open up on the track and insurance would not allow that. They are having another charity event this Fall, so if you did not make this one be sure to take advantage of the next one. Our trip queen, Paula will be sending out the notice when she has the exact dates.
