We met Friday afternoon at the Cracker Barrel in Canton. It was a beautiful sunny day for traveling. We caravanned to Mont Eagle, stopping for lunch at the Smoke House. They have a marvelous store as well with lots of Christmas and specialty food items. From there, we drove into Nashville and checked into the Opryland Hotel, which is a Christmas Wonderland. We immediately went for a preview walk around the complex admiring all of the elaborate decorations. After dinner at the hotel, we went to see the Rockettes. If this show doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit, nothing will. The dancers, the costumes, and the music are just the ultimate.
Saturday morning, we went to the ice show, which has everything Christmas sculpted in life size ice art. After lunch at Rachel’s in the hotel, (we highly recommend this treat), we went to a huge arts and crafts fair in one of the Exhibition Halls. They had many unique and interesting things from decorations to clothing. We went to the world famous Mario’s in downtown Nashville for dinner. While the restaurant was superb and met all of our expectations, the cab ride there could be made into a sitcom.
Sunday Morning, we reluctantly left this world of Christmas and drove home. It was a wonderful prelude to the holidays.
