ALLANTE’ ATLANTA WINTER DINNER
JANUARY 19, 2008
Our first event of 2008 was a splendid success in spite of the predicted winter storm warnings. Fortunately, there was no ice and just a few pretty snow flurries in the afternoon. We had sixteen hale and hardy members come for our annual winter dinner. Winners of the hale and hardy member recognition are Doug and Jean Reed who drove from Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Saturday. A close second was Budd and Darlene Neidig who came in from Bean Station (Knoxville, TN) area on Friday evening.
We reserved the upstairs dining area of Downtown Kitchen ( Canton’s finest restaurant) for the evening where we enjoyed appetizers, drinks and a social hour before a scrumptious dinner. While we enjoyed an array of petit fours for dessert, Club President, Norman Penfield reviewed our terrific calendar of events in 2007. He stated that he anticipates an even better year with the line up of events scheduled in 2008 including a trip to CLC’s anniversary event in August. There was a brief discussion of the possibility of our club hosting a national event in the near future.
Norman presented gifts to V.P. Paula Vopelak, Treasurer, Bernice Kniffen, Doug Jackon, Tech Advisor, Ken Gresham, Membership Director and Wheaton Cave, Newsletter Coordinator. Paula gave Norman a gift of appreciation for his work as President and a thank you gift to his wife, Linda for her website support. We enjoyed another grand evening of fun and friendship kicking off our 2008 year in style.
Several of us met for breakfast at Cracker Barrel Sunday morning making plans for our Valentine’s breakfast meeting before heading home. This Allante’ group loves to Drive, Eat, Drink, and Be Merry ( we laugh a LOT)!!
