Winter Meeting 2007

MINUTES OF ALLANTA’ ATLANTA CAR CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING DECEMBER 15, 2007

Sixteen members of the Allanté Atlanta Car Club met for breakfast at the Piccadilly in Marietta on Saturday, December 15, 2007 After a delicious buffet breakfast, the Annual meeting was called to order by President Norman Penfield.

Those present were: Norman Penfield, Paula and Russell Vopelak, Wheaton and Judy Cave, Michael Fain, Doug and Anna May Jackson, Ray Whitaker, Jim and Marian Gist, Trell Norton, Dennis Guthrie, and Sara Dawkins.

Norman Penfield reported on the Christmas trip to Stone Mountain on November 30 to December 2. It was a great trip including Christmas festivities and shopping and sightseeing at Stone Mountain Village.

Paula Vopelak gave a summary of the 10 surveys she received from members. The consensus was as follows:

 1. Monthly breakfasts should be at alternating locations.

 2. Quarterly Club dinners were not favored.

 3. Favorite future trips would be Opryland Hotel, Charleston, Chattanooga and the Gulf Coast.

 4. We should hold an annual Tech session.

 5. We will continue to use Evite, fax and mail for notices of meetings.

 6. Everyone had favorable opinions of the Newsletter and would like to see it continue.

 7. Most would like to hold a National meet and would be willing to help with planning. Some would agree to include XLR owners. Dennis suggested that Cadillac dealers would be more inclined to help with the event if the XLR was part of it since they are still selling them.

 8. Everyone was satisfied with the present officers. Some said they would volunteer to run for office when they are retired.

 9. Paula mentioned some of the trips being planned for next year and the schedule will be included with the new 2008 Calendars to be mailed soon.

10. The January dinner meeting will be held on January 19th at the Downtown Kitchen in Canton. There are several nearby hotels for those who would like to stay overnight.

Bernice Kniffen gave the annual Secretary/Treasurer’s report noting we have 40 paid members as of December 1, 2007 and a healthy balance of $3,805.30 in our Treasury, however the President has not sent in his expenses for the last half of the year for news letters and the 08 calander. This amount does include the $1200 set aside as a Memorial Fund for Ken Kogge, our Club founder. Three trophies have been awarded this year at the Florida Allanté club (The Wild Dolphins) 9th Annual National Meet in St. Augustine, Florida, CLC Grand National Meet in Savannah, and at the Cadillac Allanté Club 4th Grand National meet in Ocean City, Maryland.

Norman reported the problems arising from attempts to file Incorporation documents for the Club. The attorney said the filing would be no problem and cost about $350, however filing as a non-profit would require the assistance of a CPA and cost $3,000 to $4,000. Therefore, it was agreed we should file as a Corporation for liability protection and file yearly tax returns. Norman reminded us that one of the reasons our Bank balance is more this year is due to the savings Mike Fain has provided us by printing the 50 Calendars. The colored ink alone cost $500, also sale off of club inventory that has not been replenished. Norman mails a welcome pack to new members consisting of two: Allanté coffee cups with their names on them, an Allante’ decal, license plate frame and our Allante’ Calendar.

Norman opened the floor for nominations for the election of officers. A motion was made and seconded to keep the present slate of officers. All officers were re-elected by acclamation for another one year term. The officers re-elected were:

 Norman Penfield, President

 Paula Vopelak, Vice-President

 Bernice Kniffen, Secretary/Treasurer

It was suggested that new business cards be printed and made available to members so they can leave them on any Allanté’s they might see around town. We are attracting a lot of new members with our web site and we appreciate the work Brent Tresslar and Norman Penfield do in maintaining it and providing the pictures of all our events.

There being no further business, we wished everyone a Merry Christmas and adjourned to the parking lot and our Allanté’s.

Respectively Submitted,

Bernice Kniffen

Secretary/Treasurer
